Mold forming classification
(1) injection molding
First, the plastic is added to the heating cylinder of the injection machine, and the plastic is heated and melted. Under the push of the screw or plunger of the injection machine, it enters the mold cavity through the nozzle and mold gating system, and is hardened and molded into an injection product due to physical and chemical action. Injection molding is composed of injection, pressure holding (cooling) and plastic parts demoulding process, so injection molding has the characteristics of periodicity. Molding thermoplastic injection molding cycle is short, high production efficiency, small abrasion of the melt mold, to large quantities of complex shape and surface pattern with clear mark, high dimensional precision plastic parts; but for plastic parts wall thickness changes, it is difficult to avoid forming defects. The anisotropy of the plastic part is also one of the quality problems, and all possible measures should be adopted to reduce it as much as possible.
(2) compression molding
Commonly known as pressing molding, it is one of the earliest molding methods. Compression molding is to directly add plastic to the open mold cavity with a certain temperature, then close the mold, and melt into plastic flow state under the action of heat and pressure. As a result of the physical and chemical effects, the plastic is hardened to become a permanent plastic with a certain shape and size. Compression molding is mainly used for the molding of a thermosetting plastic, such as phenolic moulding powder, urea formaldehyde and melamine formaldehyde moulding powder, glass fiber reinforced plastics phenolic plastics, epoxy resin, DAP resin, silicone resin, polyimide, also forming unsaturated polyester material group (DMC), SMC (SMC), prefabricated the whole plastic mold (BMC) etc.. Generally, the compression mould is divided into three types: overflow type, non overflow type and half overflow type, according to the coordination structure of the compressed film and the lower mold.
(3) extrusion molding
It is a molding method to make the plastic in viscous flow under high temperature and pressure through the mold with specific section shape, and then form it into a continuous section with the required cross section at lower temperature. The production process of extrusion molding is the preparation of molding material, extrusion molding, cooling setting, traction and cutting, and post processing (tempering or heat treatment). During extrusion molding, it is necessary to adjust the technological parameters of the heating section of the extruder, the temperature of the mold, the screw speed and the traction speed, so as to get qualified extruded profiles. Special attention should be paid to adjusting the rate of polymer melt extruded from the head mold. Because when the melt extrusion rate is low, the extrudate has a smooth surface and uniform cross-section shape; but when the molten material extrusion rate reaches a certain limit, the extrudate surface becomes rough, dull, shark skin, orange peel appearance and shape distortion phenomenon. When the extrusion rate further increases, the extrudate surface distortion, even fragmented and broken into fragments or cylindrical melt. Therefore, the control of the extrusion rate is very important.
(4) press injection molding
Also called casting press molding. The plastic raw material is added to the preheated feeding room, then the pressure column is put into the feeding room, and the mould is locked. The pressure is applied to the plastic through the pressure column, and the plastic is melted into the flow state at high temperature and high pressure, and gradually solidified into the plastic part through the gating system. This molding method is also called transfer molding. Injection molding is suitable for lower than the solid plastic principle of compression molding, plastic injection molding method, are also available. However, it is required that the melting state of the molding material has a good fluidity at a lower temperature than the curing temperature. It has a larger curing rate at a higher temperature than the curing temperature.
(5) hollow molding
It is prepared by extrusion or injection, is still in the state of the plastic tubular or sheet billet trend is fixed on the mold, immediately pass into the compressed air, forcing the billet expansion and post on the mold surface, stay cool release, a processing method to obtain the required hollow products the. The plastics suitable for hollow molding are high pressure polyethylene, low pressure polyethylene, hard polyvinyl chloride, soft PVC, polystyrene, polypropylene, polycarbonate and so on. According to the different forming methods of billet, hollow molding is mainly divided into two kinds: extrusion blow molding hollow molding and injection blow molding hollow molding. The advantages of extrusion blow molding is extruder and extrusion blow mold structure is simple, the disadvantage is that the parison wall thickness is not uniform, easy to cause the plastic wall unevenness. The advantages of injection blow molding parison wall thickness is uniform, no burr, the injected parison bottom, so the bottom will not produce hollow products and splicing seam, not only beautiful and high strength. The disadvantage is that the molding equipments and molds used are expensive, so this molding method is mostly used for mass production of small hollow products, and no blow molding and hollow molding method is widely used.
(6) mold casting mould
The mold casting mold is also called the transfer molding mold. The plastic raw material is added to the preheated feeding chamber, then the pressure is applied to the pressure column. The plastic is melted at high temperature and high pressure, and then enters the cavity through the mold gating system, and then gradually hardens. This molding method is called mold casting, and the mold used is called mold casting mold. This mold is mostly used for the molding of thermosetting plastics.
