3D Printing Technology For Metal Materials

- Dec 02, 2017 -

3D printing technology of metallic materials of high threshold, difficult, high added value, Western technology also long ahead of Chinese, in order to break the Western blockade of core technology for China, Chinese Enterprise boldly practice and innovation, not only is made by metal rhenium core components of western countries monopoly, also created a new metal manufacturing. Metal 3D printing is increasingly appearing on high-end equipment made in China.

In manufacturing, the traditional way of manufacturing is "reducing material manufacturing". It uses the existing geometric models and tools to gradually cut, polish and reduce materials, and eventually become the needed parts. And 3D printing is based on a digital three-dimensional file, printed on a completely flat material without any material. It will print and add materials one by one. Finally, it will form a three-dimensional whole. This is called 3D printing, also known as "add material manufacturing". As a frontier advanced manufacturing technology, 3D printing has become an important driving force for the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial revolution in the world. However, most of the equipment and technology are not mature enough to produce stable, durable and high-performance industrial products in the "model making" and the experimental stage. Unlike the small precision metal 3D printers, a large printer has taken a different technical way - the coaxial powder feeding process. And China has come to the front of the world in this technology. The technology of laser "printing" metal powder makes the cooling and solidification of metal materials very fast, with fine microstructure, excellent mechanical properties and high strength as forgings.

In the past, huge metal parts, from mold opening to forging, to mechanical processing, is a very large project. It usually takes a year to complete, and 3D printing only takes 3-6 months. For example, China's space shuttle requires very high weight, because every additional one gram of weight will bring a high cost to launch, and will increase the complexity of the space program, and even affect the feasibility of the whole program. In order to reduce the weight of grams each, from the material and structure are tried, both the aircraft, ship, engine parts, or rockets, space aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and other aerospace equipment, metal 3D printing parts are quietly replaced with traditional manufacturing parts, provides more possibilities and to aerospace and other high-end manufacturing. Many large and small parts of the spacecraft can be used to replace the original heavy metal. Even a hair silk, you can hang a small part on a small satellite. Its lightweight effect is very good. The weight loss of the whole part has reached over 30%. It has saved us millions of rockets and even tens of millions of RMB in the whole rocket launch. For our traditional manufacturing industry, it may take months or even years to build a satellite. It will take more than ten days to complete the whole satellite organization through our 3D printing process, and a small satellite can play it out. Metal 3D printing technology uses a laser to irradiate the pre spread metal powder to make it formed and fixed. Titanium alloy in our metallurgical industry, is a very difficult to form a material, metallurgical process, it is very complicated, through our 3D printing technology, put a titanium alloy so hard to do, through our 3D printing process, showing such a lightweight structure.
